Where are these made?
Answer: These are NOT the original Mikisyo tools, they are a knockoff brand called Woodpecker and it says Made In China right on the front of the package. -
Question:
Are these good for relief carving?
Answer: Depends on how big you are planning to go. These are great for printmaking and detailed carving. I'd suggest using these with a flexcut slip strop. Other Japanese tools break more easily and are more expensive. -
Question:
Can these be used for wood turning/with a lathe?
Answer: No, the handles are too short and the steel too thin, even for a mini lathe. These are meant for wood carving. -
Question:
How does one sharpen these?
Answer: These do not need sharpening out of the box. They are sharp and ready to cut. -
Question:
Do you know how this compares to the Niji Yasutomo wood and linoleum cutting set?
Answer: Powergrip tools are better than niji tools since they are made of higher quality steel that lasts longer. Also, powergrip tools are more ergonomic than flexcut style cutting sets or niji. -

Is the Swiss carving chisel set new & used?
Answer: No, it’s made in Japan. -

What types of chisels/gouges are included?
Answer: The picture can tell you better than I......but it's a basic set and you get all the basic tools....v's, half moon, flat, etc...... -

What angle is the V-tool?
Answer: There are no measurements on the package but looking at it there seems to be a 90 degree angle or close to it. -

Does this company make chisels, for use with a mallet, for carving beveled letters on wooden signs?
Answer: I don't think so but I never looked for anything big. -

Does the V-gouge fit the Slipstrop v-block?
Answer: Yes, it works fine with the slip strop and is an inexpensive way to sharpen tools that students can't destroy.
