It has one brightness setting and comes with a clip that can accommodate a stand with a lip slightly more than 0.5". It is not recommendable to use it directly on a wooden stand as the clips can leave scratches. The power supply is internally isolated from the 120V power, and if there is any hum, it indicates a ground loop. One solution mentioned is to ground the metal music stand. The lamp does have an on/off switch and never gets hot. It is not cordless but plug-in only. In case the light starts flashing continuously, it is a sign of a failing power supply, which can be resolved by getting a new power supply.
