White Rose is a resonant testament to courage. In a time of horrific brutality, young people found a nonviolent way to resist. Sophie Scholl's story, as retold by Kip Wilson in White Rose, is a stunning reminder to stand against evil, even when you stand alone.

Prejudice & Racism Editorial Review
The White Rose paperback is a novel-in-verse based on the true story of Sophie and Hans Scholl who lived in Germany under Hitler's rule. They formed a group called the White Rose, which denounces the regime and distributes letters secretly, but later gets caught. This book has received an overwhelming positive response from readers, who loved the book's verse style of writing and how it captures Sophie's transition from complicity to activism. The story sheds light on a group that is not often written about - the non-Jewish Germans who loved their country but hated what their government was doing to people. Some readers found the book to be a little confusing, with the jumps from one time to another, but most were able to follow it. It is still an excellent read for high school students, and many thought it was a great novel to teach in a classroom.
