The X10 Powerline Command Repeater PLC01 is a device used to amplify and retransmit signals in order to improve X10 signal strength, distance and reliability. The device operates by receiving weaker signals and amplifying and retransmitting them from the outlet it's plugged into. The device uses X10 signals that travel through the white neutral wires that are throughout the home and all connect together on the neutral bus bar in the circuit panel. The device is ideal for corridors with reduced signal strengths and devices installed outside of the house. The device does not need to be installed in proximity to the main x10 pro module CM 15A, however, it must be installed on the same line as the devices you're controlling. Multiple PLC01 devices can be used but one should suffice, otherwise, PLC01 devices must be spaced out between the transmitter and receiver so they relay the signal off each other to prevent interference. Customers report that the device works well when installed in the right outlet, enables control of X10 switches and receivers, and makes a significant difference in signal distance and reliability, especially for devices on the other phase. Others report that the device is mediocre and confusing to use, works for a short time then dies or never works causing frustration, and has mixed quality control.
