The Denton 85s are a great option for those looking for a music-focused listening experience. The offset tweeters should be positioned towards the middle and kept at a distance from the wall for optimal performance. The retro appearance of the speakers is appealing, and the modern soundstage blends with the excellent imaging and adequate bass to make for a pleasant listening experience, especially with orchestral, jazz, acoustic, and vocal genres. However, rapid bass pulses can lag with metal genres. The speakers pair well with an Arcam Sa10 amplifier and IFI Audio Zen Streamer for streaming hi-res music files. Premium quality or hi-res files are recommended to avoid flaws in digital music. The Denton 85s get loud and play cleanly at loud levels but might benefit from a subwoofer for a fuller bottom end.
