Evel Knievel

**** The reception of the film "Evel Knievel," starring George Eads, has been a mixed bag among viewers who fondly remember the legendary stunt performer. Many fans appreciate the nostalgic trip back to the era of Evel Knievel and praise Eads’ portrayal of the iconic figure. Some have found the film to be inspirational, highlighting Eads' performance and the direction by John Badham. The commentary from Eads and Badham on the DVD has been noted as a valuable feature, providing deeper insights into the filmmaking process and enhancing the viewing experience for fans. However, criticisms have emerged regarding the film’s authenticity and execution. Several viewers lament that it does not delve deeply enough into Knievel's personal life, focusing too much on highlights of his career rather than a comprehensive portrayal. There’s also a noticeable sentiment that the movie is flawed, with issues ranging from miscasting to historical inaccuracies, such as anachronistic music choices and character portrayals that stray from the reality of Knievel’s life. The depiction of Linda Bork, played by Jaime Pressly, has been particularly criticized for not accurately reflecting her true character. Some fans argue that while the film has its moments, it ultimately falls short of being a worthy tribute to Knievel's legacy. Instead, they recommend alternative films and documentaries that offer a more authentic view of Evel Knievel’s life and contributions. In summary, while there are positive aspects of the film, particularly for fans who enjoy George Eads, many suggest that serious enthusiasts of Evel Knievel may want to seek other portrayals to truly appreciate his impact on sports and culture. **
