Otuz altı saatten uzun bir süre boyunca, geleceğin Atatürk'ü ulusal bir devletin kuruluş öyküsünü anlattı. Birinci Dünya Savaşı'nın sonunda, bu asker İstanbul hükümetine karşı ayaklandı ve Sevr Antlaşması uyarınca İtilaf devletleri tarafından planlanan Osmanlı İmparatorluğu'nun parçalanmasını reddetti.
