What sizes and angles is the ShockStop suspension stem available in?

The stem is available in 80mm, 90mm, 100mm, 110mm, and 120mm lengths, and a flippable +/-6 degree angle. It also comes in a +30 degree angle in a 100mm length.

Can the ShockStop stem be installed on any bike?

The stem fits standard 1-1/8in (28.6mm) steerer tubes used by most modern bikes, as well as oversized 1-1/4in (31.8mm) steerer tubes used by brands such as Canyon and Giant. It also fits 31.8mm handlebars with shims available for 25.4mm and 26.0mm.

What benefits does the ShockStop suspension stem provide?

The stem reduces the effects of impacts and vibrations by up to 70%, providing increased control, more confidence, and a smoother ride. It also reduces fatigue and enables riders to go further and faster on their bikes.

What size do I need for a giant talon 29” (2) 2018 mountain bike?

The size needed can vary based on anatomy. A 100mm stem with a 6-degree rise is a good starting point.

Can this be flipped for a 6 degree drop or is the suspension directional?

It can be flipped; the spacers on the interior need to be flipped as well.

Will this hold up to gravel biking?

The stem is robust and can handle rough terrain, offering effective vibration damping.

Will this fit a Trek FX2?

It will fit if the fork is 1.5 inches; a shim may be needed for handlebars not 31.8mm.

Am I crazy to be hesitant about buying one of these because it coming apart?

The stem is robustly constructed and thousands have been riding with it since 2016; the pivot point is a permanent connection.

I have a handle bar that sweeps back pretty aggressively (cruiser style). It’s about 200mm swept back. What would happen if I install the stem?

The stem is not suitable for most aggressive swept back bars as it primarily absorbs shocks in front of the pivot point.

How long do the elastomers last before they need to be replaced? Does redshift sell them?

The longevity of elastomers varies. Redshift Sport can provide information on replacements.

Can this be used on 2018 Trek e bike?

It can be used if the fork diameter matches the stem size.

REDSHIFT Stems Editorial Review

REDSHIFT ShockStop Shock-Absorbing Suspension Bike Stem is engineered to enhance comfort on your rides, especially on rough surfaces. Users have praised its robust design, noting minimal maintenance requirements and effective shock absorption while maintaining stability during high-speed descents. Its square design, often met with skepticism, has even been appreciated for its aesthetic appeal. Many riders have reported significant reductions in hand and arm fatigue, especially beneficial on UK roads known for their poor conditions. Despite being slightly heavier than typical stems, the comfort upgrade makes it a worthwhile addition to gravel and all-road bikes, supported by excellent customer service experiences.
