Movies 5060034570172 Editorial Review
Devil's Backbone is a haunting film by Guillermo Del Toro that masterfully intertwines human emotion with supernatural elements set against the backdrop of the Spanish Civil War. The film follows young Carlos, who is sent to an orphanage and must navigate friendships, bullying, and the unsettling presence of a ghost named Santi. The pacing allows deep character development, particularly between Carlos and his new friends, while also addressing the grim realities of their existence. Critics have praised the film for its powerful performances, striking cinematography, and its poignant commentary on greed and humanity, making it a standout piece in Del Toro's filmography.
