Behringer Sound Modules 0720-ADH Editorial Review
**Editorial Review of Behringer SURGES Liquid Multi-Mode Filter** The Behringer SURGES Liquid Multi-Mode Filter has garnered Considerable attention in the modular synth community due to its exceptional audio quality and affordability. Described as a clone of Mutable Instruments' highly regarded Ripples module, the SURGES offers similar functionality at a fraction of the price, around $37, making it an accessible choice for musicians and sound designers alike. User reviews highlight the rich, vintage sound produced by this filter, with many enthusiasts noting its versatility thanks to multiple filtering modes. The resonance control allows users to tap into deep bass frequencies, especially when self-oscillation is engaged, adding a unique layer to sound design. The ease of installation and setup into a Eurorack environment is another point of praise, along with users' satisfaction with the filter’s performance in creating characterful sounds. While many celebrate the sound and value of the SURGES, some concerns have been raised regarding its build quality. Although the components function adequately, there are mentions of the knobs and jacks not feeling particularly robust, with users cautioning that frequent patching might lead to potential durability issues on stage. In summary, despite minor quality concerns, the SURGES is hailed for delivering a high-caliber auditory experience at an unbeatable price, democratizing access to valuable sound design tools for a broader range of artists. **
